√x + √x =√8
2√x =√4 × √2
2√x = 2 × √2
2√x = 2√2
Divide both sides by 2
2√x / 2 = 2√2 / 2
√x=√2
Square both sides
(√x)²=(√2)²
Hence, x=2

FreeStuffsNG:
2Rtx=Rt8
Rt8= Rt4 times Rt 2
Therefore 2Rtx=2Rt2 (because Rt4=2)
Divide both places by 2
Therefore Rtx= Rt2
Therefore x=2
Option a is the answer
Rt= Square root

You can see how useless mathematicians are abi? Even simple x they can't agree what the answer is. Some say 2 others say 4 and both are actually correct depending on what approach you use.

√8 is not 4. That is the mistake in your math.

Another simple way is to do it is solve from the answer
√8 is √4 x √2 meaning 2√2

And you know 2√2 certainly means √2 + √2

The end.

And you know 2√2 certainly means √2 + √2.

Root2 + Root 2 is not equal to 2 root 2.

You don't do approximations in a situation like this. Precision is required.

I don't think you studied science or engineering.
This type of problem is solved exactly as it was written
in algebraic format without evaluating the actual numbers.
I've already solved it in the comments above.
I just added the 1.414 values to indicate that the values correspond.
Maybe you're good in drama or business or social media events.
I will not argue with you in those fields as that is not my career direction.
But this is maths. There's no argument in maths.

Let's solve the equation \(\sqrt{x} + \sqrt{x} = \sqrt{8}\).

First, simplify the left-hand side:

\[
\sqrt{x} + \sqrt{x} = 2\sqrt{x}
\]

So, the equation becomes:

\[
2\sqrt{x} = \sqrt{8}
\]

To isolate \(\sqrt{x}\), divide both sides by 2:

\[
\sqrt{x} = \frac{\sqrt{8}}{2}
\]

Next, simplify \(\frac{\sqrt{8}}{2}\):

\[
\sqrt{8} = \sqrt{4 \cdot 2} = \sqrt{4} \cdot \sqrt{2} = 2\sqrt{2}
\]

Thus,

\[
\sqrt{x} = \frac{2\sqrt{2}}{2} = \sqrt{2}
\]

To find \(x\), square both sides:

\[
x = (\sqrt{2})^2 = 2
\]

So, the solution to the equation is:

\[
x = 2
\]

Thank you....just shocked by the solutions here on this website. We are in trouble in NiGERIA.
Simple add like terms and simply simple radical, divide and square.

Habbeyy:
√x + √x =√8
2√x =√4 × √2
2√x = 2 × √2
2√x = 2√2
Divide both sides by 2
2√x / 2 = 2√2 / 2
√x=√2
Square both sides
(√x)²=(√2)²
Hence, x=2
