Solidarity Visit To Oau Students Affected By Natural Disaster by adebanji261: 5:27pm On May 24
Today; the Leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) South West Zone D paid a Solidarity visit to some of our students who were injured in the recent natural disaster that occurred at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) over the past weeks.
The Coordinator of the Zone(Comrade Alao John) who was ably represented by the Capacity Deputy Coordinator of Nans Southwest(Comrade Taiwo Owolewa).

Upon the arrival of the Deputy Coordinator of Nans Southwest and his entourage; we were warmly received by the Students' Union Executive and student leaders who welcomed us to the institution. We appreciated their hospitality and collaboration.

We then met with the Dean Students, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, to discuss the recent events.
The Dean provided a detailed account of how the incident occurred and the measures being taken to prevent such occurrences

This visit is a demonstration of our support and solidarity with the affected students and the entire OAU community during this challenging time.
We are deeply concerned about the welfare and well-being of our students and urge the university management to take prompt action to address the situation.

In furtherance to the fact that this leadership is students centered, i also visited the Health Center of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) to show support and solidarity with our students who were injured in the recent natural disaster that occurred on campus.

During my visit, I had the opportunity to meet with the Director of the Health Center who provided an update on the condition of the affected students. I am relieved to report that the victims are receiving adequate medical care and attention, and some have already been discharged from the hospital. We appreciate the efforts of the Health Center team and the university management in responding to this crisis.

We also call on the relevant authorities to investigate the incident and take necessary measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

NANS South West stands with our students and will continue to advocate for their rights and interests of her members.

Signed;
Comr Owolewa Taiwo
Deputy Coordinator, NANS South West
