Ada, your phone has rung more than five times if not more and you seem not bothered about it. Hello, is like someone is owing one of these online loan apps and she's avoiding their calls. Uju said to Ada and started laughing.

Hahaha! Don't tell me you have started patronizing online loan apps this one they are the only ones that crossed your mind. Let no one call me one day and said Uju is on the run with their one thousand five hundred naira hahaha. Ada replied to Uju and laughed back at her.

Nah, I can't stoop that low. Get your phone girl the call is coming again. Uju reminded Ada.

My dear, let that phone keep ringing. It's my Mom. I'm not ready to answer her any time soon. Ada said.

Wait, your Mom? Uju asked.

Yes, She has been calling for the past week now. I just don't have her strength.

Don't be heartless Ada. Pick up or call her back to know what's the matter. What if she's sick and needed to talk to you or she needs something? Common girl, one week is way too long to avoid Mama's call. Besides you didn't tell me you are quarreling with your mom? Uju told her.

If my mom is sick she isn't the one that will call to tell me. Many people would have notified me. So, she's sound. She's just calling me to get me angry. Ada said.

Please, pick she's calling again. Uju said.

Ada picked up the call and put it on loud volume.

Ada rie nsî! did you hear what I said? Ri juo nsî onu! your mother has been calling you for the past week and you didn't pick up or even return my calls. Ada's mom said on the phone.

Mama, answer my greetings first you are busy abusing me. Ada said.

Answer Which greetings? If I didn't call you would you have remembered to greet me? Anyways that's not why I called you. Do you know Kosarachi? Daughter of Adibe the Barber? Ada's mom asked Ada.

Mama, I don't know her. You should know I didn't grow up in the village so I didn't know many people. What happened to the Kosarachi? Ada asked.

Nothing happened to her. She is the third daughter of her parents. I'm just calling to tell you we are just coming back from her introduction. They have married her too. Ada's mother said.

Okay, is there any important thing you called me for mama? Ada asked her mom.

So what I just told you now is not important Adanna? Ada's mom asked.

Mama, please don't start now. I'm with a friend here and your voice is loud. Don't worry mama I will call you back in the evening. Ada told her and ended the call.

I've picked up the call now hope you have heard what she was calling me for. Ada asked Uju.

Do I even understand the message she was passing to you? Uju said.

Hahaha! You are carnal. You would have understood if you were in spirit. Ada joked.

Go joor! Catch your phone it's ringing again. Uju called Ada's attention again.

Ada grabbed her phone it was her mom she just finished talking with. She picked up.

Ada today is 7th December. I forgot to ask you when you will be coming home for Christmas. Ada's mom asked.

Mama, I thought I told you before now that I'm not coming home this Christmas. Ada said.

Nne, you will oh. The last time you came home was two years ago. This year is all Umuoma must-come home year. All the sons and daughters of Umuoma town are coming home including the ones abroad. You have never witnessed it. You will come home and meet with your people. Under must. Ada's mom said.

Mama I've heard you, I will think about It. How is Papa, is he getting better at all? Ada's asked.

Your father is there oo. He sicks and gets up and sick again. When you come home you will see his condition. Ada's mother said.

It's well Mama. I will try to come home if not for anything but because of Papa. Anyhow my plans are I will let you know. Mama Ngwanu I will call you later. Ada said and ended the call.

Uju, come let's go it's almost 5:00.

Oh, I forgot to tell you. Nnamdi said I should call him when we are about to leave. He said he will be joining us in the car. Uju told Ada.

Alright, call him then let him come out. Ada said.

Uju called Nnamdi. They didn't talk for up to twenty seconds she ended the call.

He said he is leaning on the car already waiting for us. Uju told Ada.

Ada and Uju proceeded to where Ada parked her car and picked Nnamdi up because they are both going in the same direction.

Mehn after today's work, my coming to work again will be in January. Nnamdi said as they are heading home.

Why? Why January? Ada asked.

Nothing is happening again in the office. I'm traveling to Ghana next weekend to meet my guys. That's where I'm spending my Christmas holiday for good.

Nnamdi for the past five years now you have not visited your people in the village. It's another Christmas holiday you are talking about traveling to Ghana. Who did this to you? Uju asked Nnamdi.

My dear, you see this my sanity eh? It is very important to me. From January to December is work, work, work! December is merriment season so, I'm using it to cruise and have better peace of mind. Traveling to the village to face Nnamdi you are getting old we thought you will be coming home with a girl you will marry is just something I don't want to hear for now from anybody in the village. Nnamdi said and kept his face on the other side of the window.

Hahaha! Wait let me get something here! Do you mean guys also face the same situation too? I thought it is only women. Uju, I guess you have understood my conversation with my mom earlier. This is exactly what my mom meant on the phone. Ada said.

Chimooo! So we all are facing the same situation? That's fine! It's good to know I'm not in this alone. Hahaha! Uju said and laughed out loud.

I think my own is the worst because my mom wants me to marry a Catholic man who hails from my state and a native of my town. Anything aside from this she said I'm alone. She took the same decision for my younger Sisters and they both settled with my town men. Even my brothers too my mom insisted they marry from my village. Why my Mom is still taking it softly with me because I Carter for everyone in my family. If not that I'm not educated or have something doing she would have found a man for me in the village. Ada complained sadly.

That's serious. In this present world Mothers still do that? Nnamdi asked.

What? I'm just hearing this from you for the first time Ada. Wait, I thought your mom is educated and primary school headmistress. She should be more than this na. Uju said.

My dear, I just decided to keep it to myself because I know one day I will tackle it by myself and that day will be this December. This Christmas will be long for me, my mom, and those village people behind her actions.
