I found an old novel in my house, it was torn, there was no beginning nor ending but I still went ahead to read it.

It's an African novel about an ugly heroine who had trouble finding a husband but finally got married to a man in a different country, his name was Bravington(He was not there physically, his cousin stood in for him).When the heroine sent him her picture, he rejected her and told his father to send her back but she decided to remain in the family.
An accident at work made Bravington paralyzed and he had to return to his Village were the heroine still was the only one who took care of him-he eventually commuted suicide.
The heroine also had a pretty younger sister, Chimika who got married to an abusive man, but escaped from him with the help of the heroine. She had one son with him and she went back to school and became a nurse.

It's a very old book, probably an African Classic, it should be at least 35 years old because my mom used it in secondary school. I don't know the name of the book so I can't even download it on the internet or ask for it in bookshops. The Novel was really interesting and I want to know how it ends.
