To be fair, while this rebuttal is listing names of other countries with GDP higher than Lagos, they forgot that Lagos is just a state not country.

The person who said Lagos is a 41 trillion naira economy did he also factor into account that Lagos is a state and not a country?

Truly, the devaluation would have affected the GDP of Lagos compared to other Africa nations who were below Lagos before but the problem with FIJ is that they didn't provide any proof.
Until then,we are still with the commissioner.

Which African nations are below Lagos? Guy you people are really overestimating Lagos from all points. At it's peak Lagos could not even reach top 15 African economies.

You were so pained to see Lagos being listed among top 7 economy in Africa. Thats why you have to so poor your mind out like you are ejaculating when you saw the post that disputed the earlier claim about Lagos.

First, you drag the Yoruba tribe into it to portray that all Yorubas are chest beaters. Unfortunately, you refused to note that the reporter of the post that made you so euphoric to the point of ejaculation is also a Yoruba man. So in a way, a Yoruba man made a claim while another Yoruba man disputed the claim but you are too myopic to see that. You still chose to drag all of them together. Anyway, na wetin unna wan hear and see na him unna dey hear and see, not what need to be heard and seen.

To the topic itself, both you and the reporter faced backyard in your analysis and assessment of the matter. The reporter gave us figures for African countries while the commissioner referred to Lagos state. If you and the reporter had been able to do justice to the issue, you should be mentioning states in Africa with figures that show your claim and counterclaims, not country.

One state in a country might actually be doing better than states from other countries. However if that state is the only stand out state among other states in its country while other individual countries have more states still doing much fine compared the country of one-stand out state, then the success of the one state might not be able to project it's country better than those other countries with more states doing fine. It's so simple but your quack reporter is not able to better analyse the commissioner's claim.

I qualify to be a journalist while I also work in a company that does a lot of figure analysis.

Oga stop playing smart here. The question is why did the Lagos commissioner not factor into account that Lagos is a state. That claim is a spurious claim, because in it's peak Lagos could not even be higher than the top 20 economies in Africa at that time, is it now that there is currency devaluation it would be top 7? See the best way we can move forward is to accept reality, the problem is we have evil people as leaders, who are prepared to use divide and rule(tribalism) to be in power as seen in the last governorship elections. And to remain in power they create illusions via propaganda that they are doing well, when in reality Lagos is slowly bleeding. Have you been to the market or to various malls lately to see how dull activities are and how shops are closing by the day?
You think things are easy for people right now, coupled with the desperate multiple taxation from the government, who themselves know that tax revenue has dropped so badly because of the downturn of the economy but need to pay back the humongous loans taken by the state(that is another discussion for another day)

This IPOB Fij is so despicable!
When you compare statistics, why put Lagos which is a State in Nigeria alongside countries like South Africa, Egypt and the rest. Your comparative basis ought to be Johannesburg, Cairo, Kumasi, Pretoria, Nairobi etc.
Typical Obi supporters and IPOB who are terminally sworn to yoruba hatred would lap up this shit from Fij without crosschecking.

Ask your commissioner who lied about Lagos being the 7th largest economy in Africa. Did he factor into account that there are countries too? This is what makes people attack most Yoruba in this forum instead of admitting that the commissioner erred you are here trying to spin it, this is why people will always have an impression about you people.

Dude give up you are fighting a losing battle here bring 2024 statistics let us compare first. Also did you admit that the commissioner made a false statement by saying Lagos is the 7th largest economy in Africa. Now ask the commissioner how he arrived at that figure what reference point did he use to make these calculations?

Hate beclouds common sense how much more discretion, if lagos gdp is listed among countries where will Nigeria be on the list .. think naw, discretion no cost

What the commissioner said is not wrong "Base" on context, lagos is a state so who ever wants to challenge or discredit the statement should handpick 10 states in Africa with higher GDP than lagos ...
