nothing to be studied there. The daft thing was swapping crude for petrol and selling it below the market price. They paid with crude oil in principle. The current guy has to repay huge debts used for unproductive thing so these issues must arise. They are part of normal distribution chain issues and not that alarming.

It was a pap maker going to ground corn outside but pays with corn equivalent of the grinding cost.

As the scarcity of fuel persist in Nigeria, motorists and passengers are seriously groaning with some Nigerians buying the product at 900, 1000, 1,100, 1,200 and above

So how much is petrol sold in your area? And how are you coping going to work everyday under the current circumstances

You want tinubu to spend over half our budget on subsidising fuel to below N200 , and get us into severe debt as a result...so that he can win election?

Right.
every country there are subsidie, if they have issue with it, the government has to fix it before removing it if at all they want to. Removing subsidie without adequate planning for the ripple effect is a disaster just as it currently. You can support government as some of you always do, but their are consequences for every action. This is the most wicked and insensitive government ever, don't forget NEPA was increase few days back. Government is for the people not for the president or his tribe alone.

There was fuel scarcity from time to time( off my head I can remember 2015, 2019, and even 2022, and early 2023), but the trick he used was

1.Remove fuel subsidy partially...eg in 2015, when landing cost was N132 and fuel prices was N87, he raised the price to N145, and fuel flowed, until landing cost rose to N150 and kept rising

2.He made NNPC the sole importer of fuel, reducing a huge chunk of subsidy costs

3. He borrowed money to fill up the deficit from fuel subsidy spending....which led to debt service hitting an all time high of eating 90% of our revenue by 2022 august

4.Anytime prices of fuel went above the price limit (see no1), he raised prices...

5. COVID meant that for a long time, it was easy to operate sans subsidy because crude oil prices were so low, and so was fuel prices....that subsidy was not needed.

Countries that have subsides pay for it with high tax rates, that if tinubu implemented them here in Nigeria, would make many of you take to the streets, and everyone will forget their tribal and political differences and be Nigerians that time.

Nigeria does not have money for any subsides. BY August 2022, we were spending 90% of our revenue on debt service. When tinubu removed subsidyin May 2023, that went down to 63% of our revenue, and since he has brought subsidy back, it';s probably rising again.

The subsidy he is even managing to pay is eating N1trillion monthly according to some people.

SO, either you pay half your income in tax to help fund subsidy, you and me and all Nigerians including the very poor....or we pay for subsidy, and fill the deficit with more loans and more loans.

Just because your friend's father bought the latest Playstation for your friend does not mean your father has the money to do likewise.

Everything about country now is pain and agony. And yet nobody is saying anything meaningful or acting towards that.

The only best way to get out this now is either Military take over or a massive revolution.

Things are getting worse by the day, while our politicians are busy leaving lavish lifestyle.

Today the price of fuel has gone up, $ to Naira is not smiling, foodstuffs still not shaking.

If you think all is well with Nigerians, then you must be a joke of the century.

The issue now is who will take the lead? The starvation is high and there is massive hunger in town.

If driving a car will make your family starve, kindly do yourself good and park the car and focus on feeding your family. Health is wealth.

This hardship is affecting everyone, irrespective of the party you are supporting, be it LP, APC, PDP etc. It's telling on everyone not two ways about it.

We should wake up and teach this politicians a big lesson and not allow them continue to use our brains for fried rice and chicken.

I don't want to dwell in the argument with you but we are all in it. With high cost of living, and inflation, time will tell how far he can go with his policies without human face. Cheers

You won't like the debt that results from paying subsides.

Plus, if we had removed subsides in 2012, by now Dangote would have been facing competiton, and there would have been a lot more investment and a lot more jobs because refining at home would be profitable. Enough to hopefully offsett the increase in fuel prices.

We are a one trick pony nation, dependent on one resource. That is the real koko, and that is why we have had and still have bad leaders, and why our economy is always weak and tired. Sort that, and we get better...and subsidy removal to among other things attract investment is one of several measures we gotta take.

We should teach the polticans a lesson, but after the reggae comes the blues

Any people's government that takes over next week is going to face the fact that a liter of fuel costs more than N1000 to refine.

Also, in the wake of a revolution, the uncertainty that arises is going to make people hoard dollars. Naira will fall more, and more and more. Fuel prices will still go up

And we still have to spend over half our revenue on debt service. Debt does not dissapear in the event of a revolution. And if we refuse to pay, well.....just ask Argentina what happened when they stopped paying IMF debt...and what IMF did to them that they eventually came back begging.

Plus recovering loot is a long process.
