I should explain first that I am not responding in order to convince you of anything. I don't believe that anyone can be persuaded or convinced of anything about which they do not wish to be convinced or persuaded. I just consider your comment interesting and worth exploring a little bit from the Christian perspective. If that suits you, perhaps we can have a decent and meaningful conversation. If it doesn't, well, we don't have to have a conversation at all.

To begin with, as I'm sure you must have heard a few times from other people, Christianity is not a religion. Not that it cannot be corrupted into one: it certainly has been corrupted into myriad religions; but biblical Christianity is not a religion at all. This is not a cop-out. Religion is necessarily a system built around placating a god/gods in order to have the quality of life that we want here on earth or to assuage the fears we have about the afterlife. In essence, it is a system devised by human beings to respond either to the fears or to the lusts in the human heart or even to both.

Considering that the Bible does indeed address the afterlife disproportionately and that it does have a significant interest in the quality of life that we have here on earth, the question does arise: how is Christianity not a religion?

First, Christianity was not devised by men. Typically, religions are constructed by single individuals whose ideas are adopted by others, but Christianity cannot be traced to a single individual, unless one were to trace it to Jesus Christ - and that would not be wrong, but it would still make my point. The whole system that is biblical Christianity began at the very least with Moses (according to the Bible, it goes even further back to Abraham, Noah, and ultimately God in the Garden of Eden, but for the sake of argument we can assume for now that Moses started the chain). A series of other prophets followed culminating eventually in Jesus Christ (Who incidentally is God Himself so that essentially the chain begins with God in the Garden of Eden and ends with God again in Jesus Christ). In other words, rather than Christianity being a system that was invented by human ideas, it is one that should have been a cacophony of conflicting ideas, assumptions, and confusions judging by how many people were involved in its development, but, in fact, it is not. Granted that the Bible is often accused of being contradictory, it really isn't. That claim can be tested.

Second, the Bible is God's Own Production. God specifically and specially constituted a nation in order to produce and preserve the Bible through it for the benefit of all mankind. Despite everything that Israel experienced down the ages, the nation survived intact to complete the Bible and disseminate it to the world. It is hard to see how any other nation has been so defined by this sort of thing. Many nations have had national religions, but not many have survived in the manner that Israel has together with the Bible. Islam is perhaps the only competitor of any significance in that claim, but we don't see the nation that was specifically constituted to give rise to the Qur'an. We see only one man and the empire that he built over which his successors have fought down the ages.

Third, although the Bible talks a lot about life here on earth, it does so to explain and instruct about it. That is, the Bible does not address itself to solving problems of life here on earth. It does not, for example, tell us how to achieve happiness or inner peace here on earth, and it is not concerned with teaching the secrets of wealth and having friends or gaining power. The Bible simply explains the nature of existence here on earth, its purpose, and its destiny. It builds a very involved, complex story of existence that does encourage a certain attitude and lifestyle, but it does not look to promise any particular quality of life to those who listen to what it says, except to warn them of persecution and possible martyrdom.

Fourth, although the Bible is very concerned with the spiritual and the afterlife, that concern is seamlessly woven into the fabric of normal physical existence. That is, the Bible is a very down-to-earth Book even in its discussion of the spiritual and the afterlife. It does not break the narrative up so that things are chunky, in a manner of speaking. The flow is very natural, so that those who listen do not find themselves split up in their approach to life. There is a definite difference between the "natural" and the "spiritual," but this difference is only of kind, not of value, for want of a better word. That is, in the Bible, there is one whole seamless creation with different kinds of things in it playing different parts in one harmonious story. So, our physical existence here on earth is actually part of a larger story that includes spiritual phenomena and a conclusion in a different sort of existence, i.e. an afterlife. Granted that there is always a spiritual element and an afterlife in religions around the world, the difference here is that in Christianity, both are part of the story of the physical in a very intimate way so that it is impossible to separate the physical meaningfully from the spiritual or the afterlife.

In all of the above, I have already answered your objections in your post. To go over it again, this is my answer:

1. You are right that all religions are false, since they are merely man-made inventions to try to answer the fears and lusts in the human heart. Christianity as described by the Bible, however, is not a religion.

2. Mysticism: the Bible does address the unseen spiritual and eternity, but it speaks of these things not in a mystical way, but in a very visceral way, that is, in a very down-to-earth, relevant way. The spiritual, eternity, and the physical are all together part of one flowing narrative with each feeding into the other in a very clear, logical way.

3. Revelation: this is a matter of epistemology. The Bible is itself a revelation, but even so, it is an accessible one to anyone who is willing to deal with the actual nature of the world around us. That is, although it is not easily understandable to those who don't believe it, it can be begun to be understood by anyone who is willing to at least start by looking honestly at the world around us.

4. Physical reality: the Bible does not teach that it is to be rejected. It does provide a context for understanding it, however.

5. Anti-life, anti-mind, anti-knowledge. Those would be very curious words to describe the Bible with, since the Bible is a historical authority and is actually a treasure trove of knowledge about life in this world.

I'll close with what I said at the beginning. I thought to answer your thread as an exercise, not to persuade you of anything. I believe that everyone possesses a free will and is free to choose what to believe and what to reject, so my interest here is purely to discuss the Bible from a new perspective. I would be happy to indulge your challenges as long as it is meaningful to, but if it does not suit you to engage me, that would be fine too.

Before we begin chatting, let's make a brief introduction.

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses, initially i argued that there is no sense in religion because right from my teens i was forced to agree(some calls it believe) that there is a God somewhere and i must worship him whether i like it or not otherwise he will forever roast me alive in a place called hellfire.

All these were in my head for decades until i met Jehovah's Witnesses and that was the first time i heard something totally different about this same entity called God.

I began throwing all the questions that's been locked up in my brains right from childhood at these preachers until i was fully convinced that the idea of a Creator makes sense.

Now i'm one of them, doing exactly what they did with me in my neighborhood. Though it's not been long i joined them but because i'm a fast learner i've become a skilled teacher in such a short period of time.

I agree with you. It's the same reason I don't believe in LOVE. Love is intangible, unquantifiable, it isn't even real based on examples of those who married out of love. So also is dark matters, up till now, no-one has been able to measure, quantify it yet scientists believe it exists.

Consciousness is another thing that I am certain does not exist.

I reject consciousness as inferior to the reality in which live - if consciousness is real, then we can and should be able to see, touch, feel, hear, and taste - and accept as superior.

I am still waiting for someone to argue that consciousness is real. Any who takes such a position is as ignorant as the cold moon!

All Religions are not the same.

Some offer proof of their claims, while others do not.

The only False Religion I can think of, at this time, is ISLAM.

ISLAM is based in an ILLITERATE man who encountered a Spirit Being, who used him to begin a new Religion, claiming to represent the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Yacub.

The wannabe Prophet doomed his Soul and that of all his followers, by adopting a Religion that violated the Covenant with Moses.

HELLENISM, the Pagan Religion of Ancient Greece worshipped Deities which may, or may not have existed, such that they showed actual evidence of their existence, and involvement with Man.

The Norse Religion of the Vikings is similarly based on Entities that do not need to have actually existed.

The Religion of the Aboriginal Americans is based on interaction with Spirit Entities facilitated by the use of Mind-Altering Drugs indigenous to their homelands.

Asians had similar interactions, but relied more on Mental Discipline to attain those states of mind required to attain contact.

Africans also excessively relied upon Mind-Altering Drugs to attain the Mental States needed to interact with their presumed Deities and Spirit-Helpers."

Anybody who wants to undergo the arduous process of perceiving other Worlds is quite free to do so.

All Religions are not the same.

Some offer proof of their claims, while others do not.

The only False Religion I can think of, at this time, is ISLAM.

ISLAM is based in an ILLITERATE man who encountered a Spirit Being, who used him to begin a new Religion, claiming to represent the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Yacub.

The wannabe Prophet doomed his Soul and that of all his followers, by adopting a Religion that violated the Covenant with Moses.

HELLENISM, the Pagan Religion of Ancient Greece worshipped Deities which may, or may not have existed, such that they showed actual evidence of their existence, and involvement with Man.

The Norse Religion of the Vikings is similarly based on Entities that do not need to have actually existed.

The Religion of the Aboriginal Americans is based on interaction with Spirit Entities facilitated by the use of Mind-Altering Drugs indigenous to their homelands.

Asians had similar interactions, but relied more on Mental Discipline to attain those states of mind required to attain contact.

Africans also excessively relied upon Mind-Altering Drugs to attain the Mental States needed to interact with their presumed Deities and Spirit-Helpers."

We don't need them for anything.

There is nothing they can bring to the table that we need. We don't want their MONEY, and we don't want their PERSONS. There are other Churches that feel differently, and will tell you anything, to make you a DONOR and a SUPPORTER.

They will find out that their supposed Wisdom was, in fact, foolishness.

The Good News is that VERY FEW SINNERS CAN GO TO HELL; the BAD NEWS is that what actually happens to NORMAL Sinners is MUCH WORSE than going to HELL.

All religions are not false, they are all man made no matter how u place it. A car is man made but does it mean it false?
