Still On The Matter........
Have you noticed the common refrain in Adamawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Bauchi, Jigawa, Niger, Benue, Plateau, Kebbi and all other states where the APC Kickout the PDP from the Government House?
The Gominas have ALL been equivocal in telling the people the state of the purse. "I MET AN EMPTY TREASURY, " is the most abused phrase they have resorted to singing like a hymn.
Rivers state where the PDP took over from the APC is the worst in this category. The ordoriferous tales emanating from that enclave is a bitter reminder of the power tussle between the incumbent caretaker Governor and his Predecessor. The Gomina proclaimed that he didn't only inherit an EMPTY treasury, but the Government House was looted to the walls and even cutleries was not spared for him and his family to eat with in the Government House.
Fast forward to Lagos, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Ebonyi, Taraba, Enugu and Cross Rivers states where an APC or PDP Gomina handed over the rein of governance to a successor from the same party, the state of the treasury has remained a top secret between Predecessor and Successor or godfather and godson. It has been peace and tranquillity all the way without anyone breathing down the neck of the outgone Gomina and his team for leaving behind an EMPTY treasury.
A third category comprise of Imo, Bayelsa, Edo, Osun, Ekiti, Kogi, Kwara, Anambra, Yobe, Borno and Ondo states where the Governors were either reelected for a second term or election didn't hold because the incumbent have not completed his term. Most of the states listed here are broke and can't pay salary for several months running. They are broke and they all unanimously blamed the reduced allocation from the FEDERATION ACCOUNT.
Unfortunately, even the Federal Government is not left out of singing the, "I MET AN EMPTY TREASURY," hymn.
So whereas we know that ALL Lizard crawl on their belly and it is difficult to point at anyone with stomach ache, those who have been crying at least sounded the alarm that they are suffering from diarrhoea. Those who have refused to cry out because they took over from their godfather need not worry, we have
#EMPIRICALEVIDENCE that they also inherited an empty treasury otherwise they wouldn't have been owing workers salary in arrears.
Among those who handed over to themselves or where there is #Kontinuity (apologies Mama Peace aka Dame, © 2014) one state stands out as a flagship.
Step on the dais Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Governor of the State of Osun:
Here is a Governor who came to power with a combo of Socialist - Communist empowerment schemes for the people anchored on so many O's. Under the O-Empowerment programme Ogbeni has O-YES, O-MEALS, O - YAMS, O-MILK, O-FARMS inter alia which was meant to move the people of the state of Osun to the next frontier. However, Ogbeni introduced O-DEBT, and this has derailed all the purported and laudable achievements of the O-Schemes!
In conclusion, we ask the question: Which state in Nigeria is working since they ALL inherited an EMPTY TREASURY? Is Governance taking place at the states? It's been over 60 days since the new order and we are still on the issue of empty treasury. So much noise with NO ACTION!!!!!!!
The true measure of GREATNESS is NOT merely living with #CHANGE, but living and serving better with CHANGE.
