Konquest:

The last two aspects of your suggestions were practiced in the former Soviet Union (USSR).

That socialist strategy proved to be unsustainable over the long-term hence the Russians after the peaceful break up of the former USSR into independent countries opened up to the free market economic system.

The BEST bet is to introduce more CNG refill stations such as those already in existence by NIPCO, and more CNG buses and vehicles fully to transport finished goods, farm produce, and people. This would rapidly drop the cost of transportation and goods and services would be cheaper. But this must be monitored because there are greedy people who would still want to game the economic system to maximize profits. So, whistleblower phone numbers can be provided for folks to report food items hoarders, and illegal check points were money is extorted by rogue policemen and soldiers, and state agents that collect illegal levies from food trucks moving from one state to another. There would be an instant drop of food prices in partnership with the market unions.

The second solution would be to invest heavily in drones for security purposes to prevent kidnappings by foreign Fulani nomadic invaders fleeing the drought and violence in the Sahelian region countries of West Africa and armed robberies that have made driving on some highways and going to the farms for commercial and subsistence farmers nearly all over Nigeria a nightmare.

The death penalty has to be implemented ASAP via electric chairs, lethal injections, or hanging. This is meant to serve as a deterance.

It is all about tweeting system just like what China did.

Hmmmm!!! I hear all the permutations of inflation and deflation as regards the minimum wage or propose living wage as the case may be. The government is proposing 48k as against what the organize labour are demanding. I feel very very sorry for our dear nation, our workers and the general people in this great country of ours. Our big problem in this country are: 1/ our leaders
2/ politicians ( from presidency to the local)
3/ Religious leaders ( beggars, money and untruthful ones)
4/ Economy Grammer's
5/misplace priorities
6/ The followers ( scophants and the rest)
7/ you all the rest my people. Fill in the gaps.
Nothing bad with the suggestion given above. But that is in a sincere and real democratic society where the fear of God is practice. Haba!!! Why are we suffering in this country with all the riches, the rich men and women, God giving endowment and human resources to our advantage. But instead is to our disadvantage. Story upon story and promises fail right from when where born some fifty something years ago. As a Nigeria, God dey! Revolution is the answer to set things right my people. Thanks

Op... Stop this nonsense abeg.

How much does Tinubu take home in salary and allowances every month?!! Even his wife?!!

Why can't you demand that all government appointees and elected leaders bring their monthly wages and allowances to the same level of civil servants, and apply these principles?!!

Why must it always be the average citizens that must keep adjusting and suffering just to maintain the greed and excesses of those in power?!!

You people are irritating in this dumb attempt to always cover poor leadership.

1. Free transport to work

2. Subsidised homes. Like the ones built by shagari in the 80’s . Little one two & 3 bedroom houses. They would pay N5000.00 per month

3. Build large cooperative stores that would sell groceries at rock bottom price. That means government would buy fruit and vegetables from farmers and subsidies them. Including meat rice& fish.

It can be done. There would be know reasons to increase wages which would eventually lead to a runaway inflation. The 650,000 labour is asking for would lead to runaway inflation just like in Zimbabwe.

where do you expect the government to get the money to fund these subsidies?

Trust me. You are worth far more than 30k a month or you at least ought to be.

I beg to differ, government does not necessarily need to buy at cheap rate from farmers except if government had made available subsidized fertilizer, agro chemical and seeds that will enhance productivity. On the long run both the farmers and government gains.

We are in the capitalist world economy. You can find these things during the communist era. Oga, 99% of the world will work for just 1%. This is how the present world is currently running.

However, we may not be in that 1% and at the same time escape the curse and pain working for that 1%. Build your wealth and live a moderate life. Grow your food and maintain good health.

Validated:

The last point you raised, govt subsidizing food will only do more harm than good, its something we've witness when govt gave out palliatives last time
Govt buying up food product from farmers will creat unwarranted sarcity and boost inflation that leaves the real market to scramble what is left of supply which automatically hikes in price

Above all, subsidy intervention will only brew corruption and even the foods stuff will be held up in warehouses and what will be dispense can't even serve 30% of Nigerian population .. whats the point

All that you've mentioned look good on paper. Have you really considered the reality? You want food to be subsidized ....pause . Petrol was subsidised... what happened? Why what happened with Petrol wouldn't happen with food? Subsidize Petrol... cartels were formed and it ecame lucrative to smuggle out of the country. Why wouldn't the same happen to subsidised food? During COVID-19.... food palliatives ... for free ... what happened? ... did it reach the masses? .... why wouldn't same happen to subsidised food?

Not a communist... but a welfare state. How is the State going to fund these subsidies? You compare to Sweden .... did you consider Sweden systems in place to sustain funding .... do we? ... or is it loans that will be funding the subsidies?

I'm disappointed that in this 21st century with such a huge and young populace we dare propose and try to defend a welfare State.... a state of dependency. Government is no baby sitter .... it needs to provide the infrastructure and regulations .... conditions for people and businesses to chase their own dreams. Basic 1900's infrastructure we are yet to provide anywhere in the country..... reliable electricity .... potable water ... mass transit ... good roads and road network .... we need to take care of the foundation or we will continue building a house upon the sand and hoping for the best..

What I don’t understand, if I draw water from my well boil the water and drink what is the cost of that water that I have just consumed.

Same thing is applicable to crude. The crude is our soil, all we need to is convert that crude to pms at d bearest cost. I believe we can beat 640.00 per litre with some ingenuity. Necessity is the mother of invention. All those crude cooked can be made cleaner by putting something like alum not necessary alum to clean it out.

The Igbo’s and their dastardly way of doing business are the one killing Nigeria. I bought a water pump to pump water from my well to my tanker many years ago for the equivalent of £200.00 in 2003.

Do you know I use that pump only once and it blew up . I took it back to d guy he refused to take it back. There is no way I would buy anything electronic in d UK for that price that I would not get a replacement or my money back.

That is why I am fully in support of death penalty for drug pushers as some people see it as a legitimate business.

Trust me, all the money that would be budgeted for it ,would go directly to pocket of few individuals that are privileged.

Op has a point.

There is nothing communist about 2 of his suggestions. The one about groceries is unlikely to be practicable. Transport can be subsidised rather than being totally free.

I am a capitalist, but given the level of poverty, homelessness, and despair in the USA - the poster child of capitalism - and the fact that 50% of those earning $100,000 or above in the US live from hand to mouth (despite that being a high salary), I have come to believe that the purest form of capitalism is a recipe for despair. The only true winners are the super rich and the upper middle classes who set the rules of the game and continue to get richer. The majority of people work, work, and work with little to show for it.

A government must be able to intervene in certain areas when the wanton greed that capitalism inevitably breeds is getting out of hand.

A couple of months ago, Cement manufacturers were selling cement to distributors at around N7,500, but these people were selling to consumers for N11,000 and above. That's just one out of many examples of unbridled greed.

You don't live in the US stop saying what you don't know.
