The Bill to Amend the Court of Appeal Act, Cap. C, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and for Related Matters (HB. 999), sponsored by Hon. Patrick Umoh, successfully passed its Second Reading. This bill, aimed at streamlining appellate procedures, received broad support and has now been referred to the Committee on Judiciary for further legislative action. The bill seeks to amend the Court of Appeal Act, Cap. C36, to increase the number of justices of the court and provide for the appointment of a minimum of six justices in every judicial division of the court.
