A Quick One On The New Serie A Season (my Analysis) by hustler(m): 11:57am On Aug 26, 2007
The new season started yesterday. From indications yesterday, it looks like it's goin to be an interesting one.Juve's 5-1 trashing of Livorno has just told us all that one season in serie b hasn't affected their winning mentality. The y have also beefeed up their squad, though not to my entire satisfaction as i felt they should have gone for Riquelme and another central defender. Nevertheless, they still have champions like Trez,Nedved and Del Piero and the young ones like Criscito(dat boy excites me) and Nocerino. They will fight hard to regain the scudetto but i see them finishing third or fourth.

Inter on the other hand will start as the favourites to win this. They have a mouth watering attack and in my opinion the only attack line that can compete with theirs in Europe is Barcelona's, Ibra, Suazo,Crespo,a fit Adriano and Cruz are players that will get you goals anyday. They have tightened up at the back too with the arrivals of Rivas and Chivu.Without a doubt they are the favourites i no go lie but their defeat to Roma in the super cup a week ago and the feeling that some of their strikers will be discontent when they are not getting regular playing time has cas a doubt on their potential.

Roma, To me they have been playing the best brand of football in Italy and arguably in Europe since Spallettin took over.Similar to Arsenal's passing game just that they don't try to walk it into the net , they also shoot from distance. What can i say about them. They lost Chivu cuz they wouldn't break their salary cap, but have strengthened their defence with the arrival;s of the Brazilians Juan and Cicinho.I think Giuly will give Spalletti more options in the attack. In Aquilani they have a rising young star and one for the future. He can become the next Pirlo. And talismanic Totti who has almost telephatic understanding with Mancini,Taddei and Perotta. They have wehat it takes to fight Inter for the title

You can never count out the Rossonneri.Never ever ever ever. I know this from experience.Have been a supporter since i was 6.They havent been that active in the market as usual.Just the arrival of Pato and the "old Emerson' were their significant captures in the transfer window. But they will count on having Il Fenomeno", ROnaldo and Oddo from the start of the season.A fit Nesta, a blessed Kaka and never say die gattuso and Seedorf. In what will be Maldini's last season they will be the favourites for the scudetto also. And they are the usual suspects for the UCL. Just hope we can add those two trophies along with the super cup of Friday to our already congested trophy cabinet. It should be between Milan and Inter. But that our usual greed for Champions league success may shift out attention.

FORZA MILAN!!!

Watch out for teams like Palermo, their strike force of Amauri and Miccoli will trouble defences.Fiorentina with the promising Giampolo Pazzini and Mutu cant be left out.But y in the world did they let Reginaldo(i consider him the next Adriano cuz of their similarity) move to Parma.I still wonder. Also with Udinese, Quagliarella will want to show the world that his performance of last season want a fluke.Sampdoria have the "born again" Cassano and will hope to fight the big guns too this season.I tip Napoli to stay up and give the big guns a run for their money too this season. Which other team dey sef??/

Yes, Lazio. Some say they have shot themselves in the foot in their UCL qualifier. But they have all it takes to recover and record victory in Romanis. With strikers in the mould of Rocchi and Pandev.Never count them out.

Let the games begin.

FORZA SERIE A.The toughest league in the world.

Juve were lacklustre in their 2-2 draw with Roma on Sunday.Ranieri's system of playing 3 strikers-Del Piero,Trezeguet and Laquinta-left them light in midfield. They were easily overun by Roma's packed midfield.Only Roma's lack of a killer instinct in front of goal saved Juve.

I am not a big fan of Ranieri and its only a matter of time before he gets the sack.

If u ask me i think it was the system he used dat gave em dat result. Iaquinta looked impressive on dat right hand side. Criscito's lack of experience at the back gave Roma those 2 cheap goals. Although Roma played good attacking football and overwhelmed them.

Same cannot be said of their play today. The 1-4 loss to Inter. Though he didnt get to play the full match today, i think the best striker in the world at the moment is Ibra.

I haven't seen today's game but I was a bit dissapointed by the result.I don't want this season to be a one horse race like last season.I can't figure out why Inter can't transfer their good domestic form to Europe. If they do,they are as good as anyone in Europe.

Roma,Milan and Juve are not up to the task of catching up with Inter over the course of the season.Milan's ageing players can't cope with the rigours of a full domestic season.Juve also lack quality. They still depend a lot on the likes of Nedved,Del Piero and Trezeguet.Andrade's injury leaves them desperately short in defence.Roma still lack that extra quality. They lost a very good defender in Chivu and Juan is not of the same class.

I agree that Ibra has to be the best striker in the world at the moment. If he finds some consistency, his reputation around the world will soar, particularly if he does well in the Champions League

The only thing consistent about Inter Milan is their inconsistency. Dont place a dime on them because they know how to mess up when it matters. This win would be a good morale booster to Mancini who has had thoughts of Mourinho on his mind ever since the special one left Chelsea.

The same Inter that beat Roma mercilessly today can loose to Fernabahce next match day. I still remember Helsingborg eliminating Inter in Champions league play off some years back.
